Livingston Relay Champions 2013
- by Belly - 28/4/2013

After not entering a team in last years, Owls entered three teams this year in a bid to re-gain the title. Each team had four runners, who each had to run 3 miles around a fairly windy Braunstone Park.

Our 'A' team, who won by comfortable margin of aprroximately 30 seconds, consisted of Tom Bell (15.36), Paul Richardson (14.32), Jake Boat (15.26) and Danny Hallam (15.19). On the opening leg, Tom brought the team home in second place, 15 seconds behind the leader. Paul then took over and chased down the leader, as well as putting a considerable gap between us and the rest of the field. This lead was then maintained by excellent runs from Jake and Danny. Paul also managed to be the only person to break under 15 minutes, making his leg the fastest of the day.

The Owls 'B' team finished in 4th place with good runs from George Ashdown (16.22), Scott Green (17.34), Carl Voisey (18.08) and Simon Allen (15.42). Our 'C' team, made up of some of the younger members of the squad finished in 11th place (out of 23 teams) - Max O'Sullivan (17.16), Tom Liney (18.59), Ash Palmer (17.28) and Luke Ingram (19.02).

Fraser goes second on world rankings for 2013
- by Mooney - 21/4/2013

Owls athlete Rory Fraser opened his account for the summer season on Friday, racing over 5000m in the Mt. SAC Relays meeting, held annually at Mt. San Antonio Community College, Los Angeles, USA. The meeting is renowned for fast times, and Rory has previously set three personal bests for the 5000m at this very meeting in Walnut, the most recent of which was in 2012, clocking 13:27.70.

This year did not disappoint, Fraser placing second in the 'A' race, being narrowly beaten by America Will Leer; Rory clocked a lifetime best of 13:24.07 to go straight to the top of the British rankings for 2013, and current second in the world, behind the race winner Leer. Despite it being very early in the season, this gives Rory a great chance to make the Great Britain and Northern Island team for the World Championships, this year held in Moscow in August.
