Welcome to OWLS A.C. Leicester
We are an athletics club based at Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium, Leicester. We cater to all abilities, from those starting out, to those looking for major titles. As both a team and individually, we have won numerous National, Midland and County titles. We are also the reigning Senior Men Team Champions at the Leicestershire Cross Country Championships and have been for the last 23 years. For middle to long distance events, no other team in Leicestershire can touch us.
Latest NewsNot even copious amounts of mud, thunder and lightening, nor hail stones, could stop the Midlands XC Championship from taking place at Newbold Comyn, Leamington Spa earlier today.
OWLS had runners in most of the age categories and started the day off with Jack Partridge-Shepherd (U13 Boys) finishing 80th in his first Midlands event. Ash Palmer (U20 Men) came home in 19th, closely followed by Chris McMillan in 26th. Tom Corby (U15 Boys) produced an excellent run and finished 12th whilst Max O'Sullivan (U17 Men) followed this with an impressive 20th.
As the Senior Women were approaching the end of their final lap, hail started falling and lightening lit up the sky. Maria Bell and Kate Russell battled on to finish 181st and 202nd respectively in their first taste of Midlands XC action.
The last race of the day, the Senior Mens race, started just as the rain and hail started. OWLS, on paper, had a strong squad entered but were unfortunately missing a few key athletes due to injury. However, the lads overcame the adverse conditions and packed strongly to claim 2nd in the team event. Ed Highton led the team home in 7th with Dan Hallam only 10 seconds behind him in 9th and Paul Richardson was just behind them in 13th. Tom Bell (33rd), Josh Norman (37th) and Tom Meakin (47th) completed the team with Simon Allen (87th) and Scott Green (103rd) providing strength in depth.

Mud, mud and more mud. A good day for the OWLS as we managed to win team medals in both the Senior Mens and the Senior Womens races.
