Despite only taking a small squad to the Championships held this year on Parliament Hill, OWLS still managed to put in some good performances. Over the expectedly hilly, but unexpectedly firm and relatively mud free course, run of the day goes to Danny Hallam who finished an impressive 25th in the Junior Mens race. Also in this race was Jake Boat who finished a strong 87th.
In the U17 race, Dawed Yousuf, who is currently returning to fitness, came 180th whilst Jack Barber finished 253rd.
The Senior Mens race also saw OWLS field just two athletes, Paul Miles and Tom Bell. Paul, who has struggled to get consistency in his training this winter managed to come an impressive 66th, whilst Tom who has arguably only been training properly for 4 weeks in the run up to this race, finished a respectable 203rd.

Following up from last weekend's county XC victory, there was another strong showing by the Owls in the third Birmingham League fixture of the season. Josh Norman recovered from a below par run last weekend, and was first scorer at Coundon Park on Saturday, coming in 18th. He was followed home by Paul Miles in 26th and Danny Hallam in 42nd. Tom Meakin but in a solid performance to finish 58th; the team was completed by Tom Bell (91st), Tom Liney (219th) and Mick McSharry (234th). Meanwhile in Nottingham, Chris Hooper finished 132nd over a challenging 10.8km course at Wollaton Park in the North Midlands XC League. Well done everybody!
Further congratulations go to Paul Richardson, who after convincingly claiming the Leicestershire & Rutland Cross Country Title last Saturday, has been to selected to represent the Midlands at the Antrim International in Northern Ireland next weekend. |
