To clear up any doubt about selection, especially U20s: Message from Women's Team Manager, will be the same for men: "The County committee has decided that the first 4 eligible athletes in both the senior and U20 women’s races will be automatically selected for the inter-counties team, if the athletes want to be. The remaining places will be selected by the Team Manager taking into account any other relevant performances. In the past, in the senior women’s race we have been able to enter 15 names of which 9 can run and the first 6 will score. In the U20 women’s race we have been able to enter 12 names of which 8 can run and the first 4 will score. Entries for the Inter-counties usually close at the end of January, so the major “other relevant performance” that can be taken into account for the entry are the regional XC Championships, i.e. Midland, Southern and Northern on the 30 January 2010. For selection to run for L&RAA; in the inter-counties, performances in the English National Championships together with any other relevant performances will be taken into account by the Team Manager. Clearly the best way to ensure your selection is to take part in the county championships on Saturday 9th January 2010 at Brocks Hill Park, Oadby, Leicester. The U20’s race will be run with the senior women’s and both are at 12.50 over 6k. Entries for these championships must arrive with the organiser not later than Monday 21 December 2009. If your Club is going to put the entry in please make sure they know you want to be entered. If you are not a member of an L&RAA; club but have an L&RAA; qualification you may enter as an individual. Forms are available on the L&RAA; web site. Special note for U20’s. U20’s must be aware that the Inter-counties are run under IAAF age rules. This is because they are the selection race for the UKA team in the World Championships to be held on Saturday the 27th March. The IAAF age rules are different to the UKA age rules in that U20’s must be under 20 at midnight on the 31st December 2010. i.e. those born in 1990 or before are too old. This will affect some of the older U20’s who are U20’s under UKA age rules. The County has decided to adopt UKA age rules for the U20’s races in its 2010 XC championships. When the regional and national championships come round they too will be held under UKA age rules for the U20’s race." Ie, Me, Belly and Nutty are too old for U20 as we are older than 19 on the 31/12/2010 (the end of the year the county xc champs are held in). Stabler, Dhallam, Norman, Paddy, Lewis and people their age or younger (ie born after 1990) are eligible for the U20 race. NB U20 race will be held as part of the Senior Champs Hope that clears things up for eveyone, deadline is soon get them entries in!!

We have had some enquiries about the Championships because of the weather conditions. Your County website has been in contact with the Champs Course Organisers. They do not expect to have to cancel the Championships becaue of the weather - last year it was -4C and the course was more difficult: "Condition underfoot can and will vary from time to time and that is the beauty of cross country running." The course will be set up on Friday and then the website will carry any necessary updated information for you. If any runner thinks it unsafe for them then s/he can withdraw from the event (notices to this effect are always in operation). Runners should also take care and be sensible by being aware of the conditions (which will change during the day due to the weather and the numbers who have run on the course previously).

Well done to all the OWLS who ran today.

Great results

Correct me if I am wrong but I think you won the u20's, senior men and masters titles as well as the senior men team award.

Well done to you all.

I have some excellent video footage including rare footage of one Wayne Walker desperately trying to avoid being lapped.

I would obviously personally like to congratulate my son Jay on winning his first ever County Title something his old man never achieved despite lots of trophies for various sports.

Cheers

Pete
