Sheffield paid host to the Lord Mayer's 10km this Sunday, and 2 very strong performances from 2 Owls athletes. While Emily Pidgeon ran an impressive 32:22 to get on the Women's UK All-time list, Paul Miles and Danny Hallam produced excellent debut performances over the 10 kilometer distance on the road. Miles, a former British Universities Cross Country Champion, ran 30:40 to claim 3rd place in the race with a strong personal best performance. But, arguably more impressively, 17 year old Danny Hallam, who never quite jusitified his fitness over a long season on the country, certaintly did so by hanging on to his older team mate to record 30:52 and 4th overall in the race. All bodes well moving forward to an eagerly awaited track season, with many of the club athletes hoping to rewrite some of their PBs. |

With the track season fast approaching, the need for us to have qualified officials is very important. This course is a week on Saturday, and we are looking to get as many athletes and parents qualified as possible. Its a simple course, I've done it as a track judge in the past, and will be a massive help to the club if you can attend.
The cost is £15 and you will gain a qualification from UK. Those who can make it will need a passport photo and to complete a form by this weekend. Please get in touch with Wayne asap. |

At the annual Livingstone Relays, this year held on Easter Sunday in the familiar surroundings of Loughborough University Campus, the Owls Men showed their superiority to take both the Senior and Junior titles. Also, while the Senior Men took the overall victory, the Owls Junior Men finished second overall, not only beating the other Junior teams, but all the other Senior and Vets teams aswell.
Lewis Smart ran a strong first leg, sticking with leaders and ex-Owls Mark Powell and Gordon Lee to bring the Under 20 Mens team back in 3rd position overall, running 15.20, while Dave Lipscomb ran the first leg for the Senior Team in 16.19. By the end though, Gaz Davies had put the Senior team back on top, anchoring the team home with the fastest leg of the day with 14.36. The team was completed by Paul Miles, who had a strong leg with a time a in the 14.53, and Simon May, running in the 15.55. The Junior team, with the fastest junior leg going to Sam Stabler recording 14.54, finished second, completed by Danny Hallam (15.24) and Niall McSharry (16.26). |
