Welcome to OWLS A.C. Leicester The home of running in Leicestershire. http://owlsac.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage Fri, 18 May 2012 01:20:44 +0000 Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management en-gb National XC Champs 2012: Report http://owlsac.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=92:national-xc-champs-2012-report&catid=34:race-report http://owlsac.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=92:national-xc-champs-2012-report&catid=34:race-report Despite only taking a small squad to the Championships held this year on Parliament Hill, OWLS still managed to put in some good performances. Over the expectedly hilly, but unexpectedly firm and relatively mud free course, run of the day goes to Danny Hallam who finished an impressive 25th in the Junior Mens race. Also in this race was Jake Boat who finished a strong 87th.

In the U17 race, Dawed Yousuf, who is currently returning to fitness, came 180th whilst Jack Barber finished 253rd.

The Senior Mens race also saw OWLS field just two athletes, Paul Miles and Tom Bell. Paul, who has struggled to get consistency in his training this winter managed to come an impressive 66th, whilst Tom who has arguably only been training properly for 4 weeks in the run up to this race, finished a respectable 203rd.

Champions for 23 years http://owlsac.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90:champions-for-23-years&catid=34:race-report http://owlsac.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90:champions-for-23-years&catid=34:race-report Last weekend saw the annual Leicestershire and Rutland County XC Championship race, where OWLS were hoping to extend their dominance of the Senior mens team title to a massive 23 undefeated years. In case you haven't guessed from the title of this post, they achieved this feat, and are still on course for reaching an unprecedented 25 years of team title wins.

The winning team from OWLS consisted of Paul Richardson, who also won the senior race, Josh Norman (5th), Danny Hallam (7th), Tom Meakin (10th) and Paul Miles (12th). Paddy Radley had a strong performance finishing 13th but did not make it into the counting five.

Well done to all the other OWLS runners that ran this weekend. Full results will be posted here once they are made available.

24/04/2011 - Owls 'A' team comprising of Tom Mahon, Josh Norman, Paul Richardson and Paul Miles stormed to victory at the Livingston Relays. After moving from its traditional home around Loughborough University campus, the relays were held at Braunstone Park, with Paul Richardson setting the fastest time of 14.13 for the 3 mile course. The winning time of 59.25 was nearly 4 mintues ahead of the next team, Coritainian Vets. The Owls U20M also won their event with a time of 67.21, and the Owls B team was 10th in 71.00.

07/05/2011 - Strong preformances across the board ensured Owls were victorious in the first fixture of the Midland League, beating clubs such as Notts, Nuneaton and most notably, Leicester Coritianians. A number of top individual performances from both Owls men and women contributed to the victory, and this ensures Owls top the league, putting them in pole position to get promoted, with 3 fixtures to come.

Paul Richardson (26:28) ran the joint 4th fastest long leg of the day, with Tom Mahon (28:05) and Paul Miles (28:16) recording 23rd and 26th fastest legs respectively. Our fastest short legs went to university students Tom Bell, Danny Hallam and Lewis Smart, who all sneaked inside the top 50 short legs of the day.
