Yes testing every athlete at every level would be very expensive and almost imposible but I see this as the only way to stop drug cheats. Maybe lie detectors could be used!

As always there are two sides to the argument - many would be suprised at the amount of athletes/ coaches/ officials who want all drugs to be legalised. They argue that they have rights to compete and make a living out of athletics. While drugs give athletes advantages these people would argue that training itself gives athletes advantages over others. Other factors which give an athlete advantages are genes, equipment, diet, etc. Fluid intake before and during a race can give a 30% improvement in performance compared to no fluid intake.

DONT WORRY IM NOT ADVOCATING THE USE OF DRUGS, IM JUST GIVING EXAMPLES OF WHY CERTAIN SICK B*****DS FEEL THAT DRUGS SHOULD BE LEGALISED.

Its important to distinguish the different between a fair advantage and an unfair advantage. Training, equipment, water, food, tactics is avaliable to everyone and so these should go in the fair advantage category. Drugs are not available to everyone and therefore are give an unfair advantage and should be banned. Health problems are another argument against drugs. BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT IS AGAINST THE RULES OF THE IAAF TO TAKE PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS!

Again this leads us back to the debate of what should be banned and what should not be banned. Creatine has a similar effect to steriods - allows you to train harder at intense activities and increases muscle mass. WHY ISNT IT BANNED? Because there is conflicting evidence as to whether it improves performance or not, although it does increase muscle phospho creatine (primary source of energy) stores above the normal level so therefore should be banned no questions asked!

Another very worrying point that I'd like to make is the fact that once a new drug comes on the sceen that acts as an performance enhancer, it usually takes 1 year to get this drug banned as the doping panel only meets up once per year! This gives "athletes" a window of 1 year where then can legally use that particular drug and get away with it!

ONCE MORE I GIVE OUT THIS WARNING, IF I KNOW OF ANY ATHLETE TO BE USING PERFORMANCE ENHANCERS I WILL BE BRINGING MY GOOD OLD TRUSY BASEBALL BAT OUT AND REMOVING THEIR KNEE CAPS! THESE PEOPLE ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO RUN (MANY CANT) SO IF THEIR GOING TO RUN, DO THE F****R FAIRLY!

The two questions that i want ansering are 1. How will athletes ever become a trurly drug free sport? 2. Why should drug cheats be allowed to keep their kneecaps?

cheers
