Totally agree. I've worked for the arts and leisure divison of the city council for a few years and its all a total joke. They only seem to be interested in developing football. If i remember correctly millions of pounds of funding for the New Deal and active sports zone in braunstone was suspended because senior members of the council were taking back handers (is that right wayne)?

The way the council is run needs to be totally reformed and i can't see this happening for many years to come. The current government dont help either.

Labour views art and sport as very important to urban regeneration and reducing poverty/inequality but they have failed to do much about it. They seem to be more concerned funding the wars and helping out other countries than addressing the problems in this country. I believe that arts and sport can be used to solve problems such as crime, health, poverty and unemployment. A sports/arts based society is the way forward.

I've got it lucky though living at loughborough uni because everything revolves around sport.

Tom do u know of any decent books/websites about the training methods used by Peter Snell or any of the other great distance runners?

cheers and keep up the good work!
