I would like to add that i have attempted quite a few related initiatives over the years and mistakenly thought that 'organisations/authorities'may meet you half way in providing THEM with opportunities for 'THEIR' youngsters/clientele at MY personal expense. However,i have also found out that i only get an (initial) response when it appears the organisation itself or its representatives (irrespective of the benefits to the young athlete)are getting something out of it!Lesson number one. Lesson number 2... find out how you can 'embarrass'(ie what role should they be fulfilling but aren't) the organisation into pro-activity. There are very few people outside of the athletics clubs who will do anything for the 'love 'of the sport. With the occasional exception of the young idealistic teacher/council worker who hasnt been dragged down to the level of the authority they represent. This is equally so in local authorities as well as schools. There is a moral to this story!

Thus far i have read some good points in most of the responses to 'BRITISH ENDURANCE RUNNING WILL NEVER BE WORLD CLASS AGAIN'Tho No one yet has taken on board the fact that whilst we are dependent on 'local authority/political effort, to set a cultural shift in motion, they wont shift unless they are, lets say, 'encouraged' to do so at a local level.

By and large the athletics community are too weak willed and lacking in passion to do anything about their situation. For example;Who knows whats going on with Saffron Lane track? Who's asked? who cares?

It is a sad reality that to a large extent those with the biggest mouths get the most done in local authorities.

Up the revolution comrades Meakin and Turlo!
