Chris Ingram Memorial 10k and Fun Run Stapleford Park, Nr. Melton Mowbray Race for a Weekend for two in Rome. Following almost 15 months of
negotiations Stilton Striders RC are pleased to announce a new venue for the Chris Ingram
Memorial Race. The course for the new race starts and
finishes within the grounds of Stapleford Hall, previously the ancestral home of Lord
& Lady Gretton. The hall now is run as a five star country hotel. The start is outside
the old stable block, which now is a state of the art fitness centre, (Frank
Dick exAAAs coach is the fitness consultant and Denise Lewis is a regular visitor),
the course takes in the tree lined avenues before leaving the hall grounds to past around
the country estate before taking a private road through open parkland, which produces
magnificent views of the hall as you re-enter the formal grounds. The 10k race has been accurately
measured over two laps of the circuit. The fun run is a single loop of approximately
5.35k. The finish to this race promises to be
something quite spectacular and memorable. Carparking is provided in front of the
main hall and provides spectators open views of the course to watch the race unfold. As a club we are confident that runners will not be disappointed with the course, which is capable of producing a fast time, and that the event will be in everyones race diary, not only for the race itself, but also for the quality prizes and mementos we are offering through our sponsors, Messrs. Thomas Hannah Associates. We are putting into a hat the race numbers of all 10k and fun runners to award our major prize, a weekend for two in Rome. Entry forms will be distributed at local races and sent directly to all club contacts in the next few days. However, it is possible to download an entry form direct by visiting our web page www.stilton-striders.supanet.com The event will be supporting the Mayor of Meltons Charity Appeal, which this year is Homestart. We look forward to seeing you all on the 13th August for
a race to remember.
